| 1Niih aikoih tuli Iivana Kaštaja ta rupesi šanelomah ihmisillä Juutijan tyhjäššä muašša näin: | 1In those days, John the Baptizer came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, |
| 2«Jättäkkyä riähäššä elämini ta kiäntykkyä Jumalan puoleh, šentäh kun Taivahien Valtakunta on jo tullun lähellä!» | 2“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!” |
| 3Juuri Iivana oli še, keštä Jumalan viessintuoja Isaija šano näin: – Karjujan iäni kuuluu tyhjäššä muašša: «Raivakkua Hospotilla tie, tašottakkua Hänellä polut!» | 3For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make the way of the Lord ready!
