Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Kaikuččele pidab kundelta ülembašt valdad, sikš ku ei ole valdad, kudamb ei tuliži Jumalaspäi, i kaik man päl olijad valdmehed om Jumalal pandud.1Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God.
Sikš ken vastustab valdmehid, se libub sidä vasthapäi, midä Jumal om käsknu tehta, a ken tegeb muga, ka sab Jumalan sudan.2Therefore he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment.
Ken tegeb hüvin, sille ei tarbiž varaita valdanpidäjid, a varaita tarbiž sille, kudamb tegeb pahad. Ku tahtoižid eläda varaidmata valdmehid, ka tege hüvin, i hö kitäba sindai.3For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the authority,
Ülembaine vald om Jumalan käskabunik, se radab sinun hüväks. No ku teged pahad, ka varaida! Ved' se ei kandiše sur't vešt tühjan. Se om Jumalan käskabunik, kudamban kal't kova openduz tuleb pahantegijan päle.4for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain; for he is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil.
Sikš pidab olda kundlijaižin ei vaiše opendusen täht, a sen täht, miše ičeiž südäimes tedad: muga pidab-ki tehta.5Therefore you need to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.
Tö ved' maksat nalogoid, a valdmehed služiba Jumalale, konz hö tegeba ičeze radoid.6For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God’s service, continually doing this very thing.
Antkat sid' jogahižele se, mi hänele pidab: kenele pidab nalogad, sille antkat nalogad, kenele maröunmaksud — sille maröunmaksud, kenele varaiduz — sille varaiduz, kenele korged arv — sille korged arv.7Therefore give everyone what you owe: if you owe taxes, pay taxes; if customs, then customs; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
Algat olgoi velgas nikenele hot' miš-ni, vaiše toine toižele armastuses. Ken armastab tošt, hän om tehnu sen, midä kirjutadas käskištos.8Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
Nene käsköd «Ala magada verhan akanke», «Ala riko», «Ala vargasta», «Ala kelhas värita», «Ala himoiče nimidä verast» i kaik toižed käsköd oma neniš sanoiš: «Armasta ičeiž lähembašt, kut ičtaiž.»9For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Armastuz ei tege nimidä pahad lähembaižele. Sikš ken armastab, hän tegeb kaiken, mi om kirjutadud käskištos.
Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.
Sen ližaks tö tedat, mitte aig nügüd' om. Se aig om heraštuda meile unespäi, sikš ku päzund om nügüd' lähemba meihe, mi siloi, konz mö tegimoiš uskojikš.11Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.
Ö om lopmas, homendez jo vaugištub. Tackam pimedan radod da tehkamoiš päivänvauktan polestajikš.12The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the deeds of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light.
Elägam muga, kut pidab päivänvauktal, ei praznuiten da joden vinad, ei verhil magaduzsijoil da kebnal elol, ei ridelten da kadehtiden.13Let’s walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy.
Säkatoiš meiden Ižandaha Iisusaha Hristosaha! Algat pidägoi hol't ičetoi hibjas enamba mi pidaiži, ika sen himod vägestaba teid.
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.
